The City of Richmond invites residents to learn about its essential services during the Public Works Open House.
Richmond, B.C. — Explore the City of Richmond’s vital services at the annual Public Works Open House on September 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Operations Yard, 5599 Lynas Lane. Visitors can delve into water services, sewer infrastructure, roads, and parks. The free, outdoor event will proceed regardless of weather conditions. Attendees of all ages can participate in interactive activities, provide their children with event passports for free food coupons, and enter raffles.
The event’s entertainment lineup includes performances by FKA Rayne, Wild Moccasin Dancers, and Serengeti. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit booths from various city departments, assess heavy equipment like excavators and dump trucks, and take photos with a Richmond Fire-Rescue truck. Additional features include information sessions on flood protection and city initiatives, and an interactive Kidstruction playground area for children.
Environmental exhibits will offer advice on lawn care and sustainable gardening practices, along with tips on conservation. Attendees are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles to enjoy Canada’s premium drinking water, available at portable stations. A selection of food vendors will also offer a variety of meals and snacks.
Due to limited onsite parking, attendees are encouraged to walk, carpool, cycle, roll, or use public transit. Overflow parking is available at several nearby venues, while continuous shuttles will operate between these locations and the City’s Operations Yard. Wheel Watch will offer free and secure storage of bikes, scooters, wagons, and strollers.
