Alexandra Community Garden set to provide plots for local gardening enthusiasts

Experienced and novice gardeners looking to cultivate their own food and flowers are invited to secure a plot at the new Alexandra Community Garden, opening this fall at 9620 Odlin Road. Community gardens offer shared green spaces on public land, maintained by their members, for growing various plants and promoting sustainable living and local food production. This initiative by the City of Richmond aims to foster connections among residents and with nature. The Alexandra Community Garden covers about 650 square meters and is located near Lulu Island Energy District building in Alexandra Neighborhood Park. It boasts amenities such as irrigation, a tool shed, picnic tables, and benches. The garden features 34 regular plots, two accessible plots, and other inclusive facilities to ensure easy access for residents of all ages and abilities. The project, managed in partnership with Urban Bounty, will oversee plot assignments and renewals here and at 16 other garden sites across Richmond, alongside conducting educational programs about gardening and food security.
