Residents invited to explore jobseeking resources at local event
Richmond residents can explore a variety of community-based employment programs and services at Employment Connections: Programs and Supports for Jobseekers. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Brighouse Library, located within the Richmond Cultural Centre at 7700 Minoru Gate. This free, drop-in event aims to connect jobseekers with 15 community organizations offering employment-related supports and services. These organizations will be available to answer questions and help attendees access programs for job searching, work or volunteer experience, and upskilling. Provincial and federal programs, such as the Canada Workers Benefit, will also be present to assist individuals with government benefits. While Employment Connections is not a job fair, it aims to help Richmond jobseekers access community-based employment support. The initiative is a collaboration between Richmond-based organizations, the City of Richmond, and Richmond Public Library, all dedicated to reducing poverty in the community. Community members are welcome to attend any time during the event, with no registration required. More information is available at richmond.ca/CommunityResources, which also offers details on event accessibility, including parking, washrooms, and sensory supports.
