City encourages residents to use online options as postal services are disrupted

RICHMOND, British Columbia (AP) — In response to the ongoing Canada Post strike, Richmond officials are urging property owners and businesses to utilize alternative payment methods, such as online and in-person, to handle financial transactions. For residents seeking a 10 percent discount on the 2024 third-quarter metered utility bills, payments must be submitted by Thursday, December 5. Payments are accepted online through myRichmond, with detailed information available at richmond.ca/utility-fees, at financial institutions in-person or via their websites, and in-person at City Hall. Note that cash payments are not accepted at the City Hall location, 6911 No. 3 Road, which operates Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For city payments to suppliers, staff will coordinate when payments are ready, including options for check pick-up at City Hall where photo ID is required. Suppliers can also opt for direct deposit by emailing treasury@richmond.ca for an enrollment form. For building permits and business licences, the MyBusiness and MyPermit online portals are available at richmond.ca/MyBusiness and richmond.ca/MyPermit. More information on setting up a myRichmond account can be found at richmond.ca/DigitalServices.
