Open houses and online platforms allow residents to engage with the city’s future planning.

RICHMOND, British Columbia (AP) — The City of Richmond is offering residents the opportunity to learn about and contribute to its Official Community Plan (OCP) Update, with themes including resiliency, equity, adaptation, and completeness. Interested community members can attend any of four in-person open houses over the next two weeks or participate online. The OCP sets out Richmond’s land use policies through 2050, and the current update emphasizes housing affordability, climate change, equity, and environmental protection. Input from residents and community groups is crucial for sustainable growth and addressing long-term needs. Open houses are scheduled for November 20 and 21, and November 27 and 28 at various Richmond locations. Online engagement is available at LetsTalkRichmond.ca, where a survey will be open from November 20 to December 22. A photo sharing initiative offers residents a chance to celebrate Richmond landmarks, with submissions due by December 1. The OCP, originally adopted in 2012, has been periodically updated to reflect growth and external changes. For more details, visit richmond.ca/ocp-update.
