Housing Initiatives, Infrastructure Oversight, and Bylaw Amendments
The General Purposes Committee reviewed and approved Bylaw No. 10620, amending Bylaw No. 7538 to permit an amusement centre at 4151 Hazelbridge Way Unit 1350. The committee received the Interim Housing Needs Report 2024, noting concerns about the Provincial HNR Method’s overestimation of housing needs. A letter will be sent to the Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs outlining these concerns. The committee discussed establishing a Housing Authority, directing staff to analyze structure options, financing, and terms of reference, reporting back in three months. Finally, the committee received a report on major project oversight, directing staff to develop terms of reference for an oversight committee for the Works Yard Replacement Project and a policy requiring oversight committees for projects exceeding $50 million.
