City of Richmond offers free workshops for professional development in the arts

The City of Richmond introduces the 2025 Art at Work series, comprising free workshops aimed at artists and arts organizations. The annual initiative includes a variety of sessions designed to impart crucial skills and knowledge necessary for professional careers in public art, performance, visual art, and community arts. Workshop space is limited, and registration opens one month prior to each session. This year’s line-up includes: ‘Public Art 101’ with Sara Graham on February 8 at the Richmond Cultural Centre, ‘Tax Basics for Artists’ by Marianna Scott on February 15 online, ‘Exploring Regional Public Art Programs’ on March 1 at the Richmond Cultural Centre, ‘Making Public Art with Specialist Fabricators’ on April 24 online, ‘Preparing for Art Markets’ on June 28 at the Richmond Cultural Centre, ‘Introduction to SmartGrant.ca’ on August 14 online, ‘Richmond Arts and Culture Grant Program Information Session’ on September 25 at the Richmond Cultural Centre, and ‘Writing Proposals for Exhibitions’ on October 4 at the Richmond Art Gallery. Sessions are both in-person and online to ensure accessibility, and assistance is offered to those who require it.
