Rezoning Applications, Greenhouse Regulations, and Heritage Conservation Funding

The Richmond Planning Committee meeting on January 21, 2025, addressed several key issues. A rezoning application for a low-to-mid-rise rental apartment complex on Spires Road was approved, with discussion focusing on parking and tree replacement. The committee also decided to maintain current regulations restricting concrete use in greenhouses, rejecting a proposal to allow concrete footings. Amendments to the Steveston Village Heritage Conservation Grant Program were approved, along with the preparation of an Official Community Plan amendment to ensure sustainable funding. Finally, the committee introduced bylaws to amend regulations for small-scale multi-unit housing, addressing building heights, setbacks, and energy code compliance.
