Digital reproductions of local landscapes now on display at Canada Line Stations
RICHMOND, British Columbia — Travelers along No. 3 Road can now admire a new art exhibition at the Aberdeen and Lansdowne Canada Line Stations. Digitally reproduced paintings by artists Sichen Grace Chen, D.F. Gray, and Scott Pleydell-Pearce are featured in illuminated display cases at the base of three concrete support columns and will be on display until July 31. The exhibition, held in cooperation with the Grand Prix of Art Steveston, showcases the annual plein air painting challenge and art exhibition along Steveston’s historic waterfront. Artists paint outdoors to capture natural light, color, and movement. At Lansdowne Station, Chen’s watercolor, gouache, and pencil crayon pieces reflect Richmond’s dynamic and serene life, while Gray’s soft pastel work highlights events like the Grand Prix of Art, the city’s maritime legacy, and the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet. At Aberdeen Station, Pleydell-Pearce’s impressionistic watercolors aim to evoke emotions beyond mere photographic reproductions. This show marks the first of a two-part, year-long exhibition series spotlighting local culture, history, and natural heritage. The succeeding exhibition begins on August 1 and runs until January 31, 2026, featuring Richmond artists. Initiated in 2010, the No. 3 Road Art Columns Program is part of the City’s initiative to beautify the streetscape in collaboration with Appia Group of Companies and InTransit BC.
