City invites homeowners to showcase sustainable technologies in April tour

RICHMOND, B.C. (AP) — The City of Richmond is searching for environmentally friendly homes to be part of its upcoming Climate-Friendly Homes Tour, occurring on Saturday, April 26. This initiative, part of a province-wide effort, allows the public to explore houses featuring sustainable technologies such as heat pumps, high-performance building envelopes, and passive house design. Homeowners will share how these innovations make a difference.

Participants will start casual, insightful discussions based on homeowners’ personal experiences with these climate-friendly features. Contractors, Energy Advisors, and other specialists will be present at select locations to provide insights on costs, comfort, and other aspects. Visitors will focus on particular features rather than the entire home.

The tour aims to inspire attendees to consider adopting sustainable practices that can improve their comfort and potentially lower operational costs. Homeowners wishing to join must register by Monday, March 31.

BC Hydro funds the initiative, which is administered by the Community Energy Association. Final details will be available on the Climate-Friendly Homes Tour’s website.
