Event to celebrate cherry blossoms and Japanese culture with various activities.

RICHMOND, British Columbia — The Richmond Cherry Blossom Festival returns on April 6 to Garry Point Park, celebrating the early spring with the beauty of cherry blossoms and Japanese culture. Attendees can enjoy cultural performances, a traditional tea ceremony, and a variety of food from trucks and vendors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s theme, ‘笑顔’ (Egao), meaning ‘smile,’ symbolizes the warm community spirit brought on by the festival. Highlights include the Sakura tent, showcasing performances and demonstrations by Mayor Malcolm Brodie and others, the Hanami tent with calligraphy, bonsai, and art displays, and the Chibi-Chan tent for children to learn origami. The festival also highlights the beauty of 255 Akebono cherry trees donated by the BC Wakayama Kenjin Kai. For more information, visit richmondcherryblossomfest.ca.
