Seniors in Blundell are encouraged to participate in a new initiative aimed at enhancing the neighborhood’s inclusivity.
The City is calling on seniors aged 55 and older in the Blundell neighborhood to join the Blundell Age-Friendly Neighborhood Group to help improve community inclusivity. The group will meet five times between May and June 2025, aiming to make the area more accommodating for seniors. Up to 15 participants will be chosen to share insights, focusing on inclusivity across varied backgrounds and experiences, without needing special expertise.
Interested seniors can apply online at LetsTalkRichmond.ca/Age-Friendly-Blundell or by calling 604-276-4175, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 5 p.m., and all applicants will be informed of their status by Monday, May 5, 2025. Confidential and secure handling of personal information is assured.
Meetings will take place in wheelchair and scooter-accessible venues, with accommodations available to support diverse needs. The City plans to release a report in the fall of 2025 detailing recommendations for an age-friendly Blundell. This initiative follows previous neighborhood projects completed in Seafair, Broadmoor, Cambie/East Richmond, and Hamilton, aiming to sustain seniors’ connectivity within their communities. The goal is to extend Age-Friendly Neighborhood Groups across all of Richmond’s planning areas.
