The city offers free and low-cost events to promote sustainability and community engagement from April 22-29.

RICHMOND, April 7, 2025 — Richmond is inviting its residents to participate in more than 30 free and low-cost activities as part of its Earth Week celebrations from April 22 to 29. The activities, aimed at promoting sustainable practices and a connection with local ecology, include events such as an invasive species pull at King George Park and a workshop on creating nutrient-rich soil from food scraps at Richmond Nature Park. Participants can also enhance their gardening skills through hands-on demonstrations at Paulik Park and assist in planting hundreds of trees and shrubs along the Railway Greenway corridor and Garden City Lands. Most events require registration, which may be limited. For a comprehensive list of activities and to register, visit richmond.ca/EarthWeek. These programs, organized in collaboration with Kwantlen Polytechnic University Sustainable Agriculture, The Sharing Farm Society, the Lower Mainland Green Team, Urban Bounty, the Richmond Garden Club, and other community partners, focus on environmental sustainability, citizen science, community engagement, and garden management. The city is also encouraging year-round community stewardship through its Partners for Beautification Program, providing volunteer opportunities such as litter cleanup and shoreline cleanups. More information on this initiative can be found at richmond.ca/beautification.
