Residents invited to explore energy-efficient homes and learn about sustainable living.
Residents aiming to enhance home comfort and cut energy expenses can attend the Climate-Friendly Homes Tour in Richmond on Saturday, April 26, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Two homes, one each in Burkeville and Blundell, will showcase their successful approaches to reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. Visitors will have the chance to speak with homeowners about making homes more climate-friendly, discussing costs, improvements, and their experiences of living in energy-efficient spaces. Building and energy experts will also be on hand to provide guidance on designing or retrofitting homes for increased comfort and lower energy use. The event aims to foster informal conversations based on direct experiences with sustainable features, with tours available every 20 to 30 minutes. Richmond is one of 10 BC communities taking part in the Climate-Friendly Homes Tour, a province-wide effort offering insight into homes with technologies like heat pumps and passive house designs. Supported by BC Hydro and managed by the Community Energy Association, the tour promotes low-carbon living. For more information, visit climatefriendlyhomestour.ca.
