City of Richmond hosts events to honor Indigenous cultures and traditions in June
Join Richmond in celebrating National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day throughout the month of June.
The City of Richmond invites the community to engage with the unique cultures and traditions of Indigenous Peoples, celebrating their strength and achievements.
A series of events and activities will be held across Richmond, showcasing the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultural expression and stories. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Community Arts Student Exhibition will take place from June 1 to 26 at the Richmond Cultural Centre Upper Rotunda Gallery, featuring artworks by students of Indigenous ancestry.
A Medicine Pouch Workshop is scheduled for June 7 at City Centre Community Centre, offering insights into sacred medicine traditions.
Participants can join a Cedar Weaving Coaster Making Workshop on June 14 at Hamilton Community Centre to learn about cedar’s cultural significance.
On June 26, the Indigenous Author Series will present Jessica Johns at Richmond Public Library, exploring themes from her novel ‘Bad Cree’.
Musqueam artist Rita Kompst-Point will demonstrate Indigenous wool dyeing at Richmond Nature Park on June 28, sharing techniques for creating vibrant colors.
