Local students to represent Richmond at the BC Provincial Heritage Fair in Vancouver

Richmond students showcased their knowledge of Canada’s rich history at the 23rd annual Richmond Regional Heritage Fair, held on May 9 at the Richmond Museum.

Elementary students presented exciting projects that highlighted Canada’s diverse heritage, covering figures like Christine Sinclair and David Suzuki, and events such as the Halifax Explosion of 1917. Participants engaged in workshops organized by Richmond Arts Services, Richmond Art Gallery, and the Richmond Museum.

A total of 17 awards were distributed, and three students were selected to represent Richmond at the BC Provincial Heritage Fair this July: Maiia Stolairova of Talmey Elementary, Carys Glen of Westwind Elementary, and Kaylee Lin of McNeely Elementary.

Participating schools included Cornerstone Christian Academy, L’école des Navigateurs, General Currie Elementary, and others, all gathered at the Richmond Cultural Centre.

The fair is sponsored by numerous organizations, aiming to foster student exploration of Canadian history through interactive learning experiences. Thousands participate in Heritage Fairs nationwide annually.
