A Richmond man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, marking one of the city’s most significant drug-related convictions in recent years.
Manoj Renato Singh, 33, pleaded guilty in Richmond Provincial Court to six counts related to drug trafficking and possession. The charges stem from offenses committed between October 2018 and January 2019, during which Singh sold fentanyl and cocaine to an undercover police officer. Additionally, he was found in possession of various controlled substances, including methamphetamine, methylphenidate (Ritalin), MDMA, oxycodone, and carfentanil, with intent to traffic.
Originally facing 26 charges, Singh’s case was streamlined to six charges through a plea agreement. Following his guilty plea, a pre-sentence report, including a psychological assessment, was ordered and submitted in May 2024. Subsequently, the court handed down an 11-year sentence, citing the substantial quantity of fentanyl involved and its potential to cause widespread harm.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and the judiciary to combat the trafficking of dangerous narcotics in the region.
