Forty students across Canada received a financial boost to their education last week, thanks to the Richmond-based Jean Ip Foundation — including four graduating high school students from Richmond.
In a ceremony held at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Richmond campus, the foundation awarded a total of $135,000 in scholarships to students from Richmond, Burnaby, Vancouver, and as far as Ontario.
Among the recipients were Richmond Christian School grads Alysha Chow, Johnathan Moi, Karussa Qiu, and Liam Memmott, each receiving a $2,000 scholarship. They were part of a group of 25 high school students recognized for their academic achievement, resilience, and dedication to their communities.
“These students showed exceptional promise, resilience and a deep commitment to their education and communities,” the Jean Ip Foundation said in a media release.
In addition to the high school awards, 15 scholarships were presented to students currently enrolled in post-secondary institutions across the country. Thirteen of those students received $5,000 each, while two were awarded top scholarships of $10,000.
The Jean Ip Foundation supports students through academic scholarships and community initiatives, with a focus on nurturing future leaders in education, healthcare, and public service.
