City examines implications of BC Supreme Court’s decision

The City of Richmond has expressed disappointment following the recent British Columbia Supreme Court ruling in the Cowichan Tribes versus Attorney General of Canada case.

City officials state that the decision carries significant and negative consequences for Richmond as well as other stakeholders affected by the ruling.

Legal teams within the city, along with external counsel, are currently examining the lengthy court judgment to determine next steps.

Richmond City Council has marked the matter as a priority and will address it before the 30-day deadline to consider an appeal.
