The 33rd Richmond Street Banner Contest welcomes public artwork submissions until September 21.

Artists, designers, and creatives are invited to participate in the 33rd annual Street Banner Contest, a long-standing initiative that showcases Richmond’s vibrant community and creativity. Submissions of original artwork are accepted until Sunday, September 21, 2025, depicting the unique aspects of Richmond’s people, places, and activities.

The contest accepts a variety of artistic media, including photography, graphic design, watercolor, oil painting, and collage. Submissions should reflect Richmond through themes such as Active Living, Community, Culture and Heritage, Discover, Diversity, Island City, Nature, Play, Sustainability, and the Arts.

A panel of five local artists and staff will select 20 finalists from all entries for online public voting. The community will choose 10 winning designs to be displayed on 1,000 street banners throughout Richmond.

Eligible submissions are accepted until 11:59 p.m. on September 21. Winners will be announced at a City Council meeting in spring 2026 and will receive a $300 honorarium and a full-sized banner of their winning design.
