City honors Canadian veterans with parade and ceremony on November 11
The City of Richmond will honor the men and women who served and protected Canada with a Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11 at City Hall, located at 6911 No. 3 Road. The event will begin with a parade at 10:20 a.m., featuring Canadian veterans, Royal Canadian Legion members, and various military and public safety representatives. Official ceremonies will commence at 10:40 a.m. at the City Hall cenotaph. At 11:00 a.m., two minutes of silence will be observed, followed by the laying of wreaths. Participants are asked to leave pets at home due to the solemn nature of the event. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be available for online viewing. A reception in the City Hall Atrium will follow, offering refreshments and an opportunity to connect with the community and view displays by the Richmond Museum and other local archives. Streets in the area will be closed or have altered traffic patterns from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event is partially funded by Veterans Affairs Canada’s Commemorative Partnership Program.
