Cost-benefit analysis of fieldhouse options; demolition recommended
This report assesses options for the existing Hugh Boyd Fieldhouse, ultimately recommending demolition. A building condition assessment revealed poor condition and the presence of hazardous materials. Three options were considered: demolition ($120,000), repurposing for informal storage ($350,000), and renovation for community use ($1.6M-$2.1M). Demolition was deemed the most cost-effective and allows for improved park landscaping. The new West Richmond Pavilion will provide adequate replacement space and storage. If an alternative option is chosen, further cost and operating budget analyses will be required.
