Alignment with Provincial Legislation, Enhanced Enforcement Tools, and Updated Definitions for Short-Term Rentals

This meeting addressed amendments to several Richmond bylaws to align with new provincial short-term rental (STR) regulations. Key changes include updating the definition of STRs to match the provincial 90-day limit, increasing maximum fines for bylaw violations to $50,000 for long-form prosecutions, and introducing a new $500 ticketing system for minor zoning violations. Amendments were introduced and given first, second, and third readings for Bylaws 10666, 10667, 10668 and 10669. Bylaw 10665 was given first reading and will proceed to a public hearing. These changes aim to improve enforcement efficiency and harmonize local regulations with provincial requirements.
